We have some incredibly exciting news for the ProQyz family! Today, we are officially rolling out a major new update designed to make your online school faster, smoother, and more powerful.
đź’ˇ Quick Check Before You Start: If your ProQyz plugin is already on version 3.0.0 or higher, you are already running the latest version! You do not need to follow any of the steps below.
To check your current version, simply log into your WordPress dashboard, click Plugins on the left menu, find ProQyz in your list, and check the version number next to it.
We focused this update on two areas you requested most:
- Super-fast speeds: If you have hundreds of students and thousands of test submissions, you might have noticed pages taking a few seconds to load. We redesigned how our system organizes data behind the scenes so your dashboards, gradebooks, and course pages load lightning-fast.
- AI Speaking Feedback: You can now enable a smart AI assistant to listen to students’ audio answers and give them detailed, constructive feedback, similar to official IELTS speaking assessments.
Because this update completely reorganizes how student data is stored to make it faster, the update happens in two easy stages.
If the updates do not automatically show up in your WordPress dashboard, don’t worry! We have provided direct download links for both stages below. Let’s walk through this together step-by-step.
⚠️ Crucial First Step: Take a Quick Backup!
Before making any big system updates, it is always highly recommended to take a quick backup of your website. Think of it as a safety net—just in case anything goes wrong, you can restore your site back to normal with one click.
Here are the two easiest ways to take a backup, even if you are not tech-savvy:
Option A: Use a Free WordPress Plugin (Highly Recommended)
Using a backup plugin is the easiest way for educators to secure their site directly from the WordPress dashboard.
- In your WordPress menu, go to Plugins > Add New.
- Search for UpdraftPlus and click Install Now, then Activate.
- Go to Settings > UpdraftPlus Backups in your sidebar.
- Click the big blue Backup Now button.
- Keep the default options checked and click Backup Now again. Once the progress bar finishes, your backup is safe!
Option B: Use Your Web Host’s One-Click Backup
Most modern hosting providers take automatic daily backups of your website for you.
- If you use Hostinger: Log into your hPanel, go to Files > Backups, and look for Generate new backup. Click select, then wait a few minutes for it to complete.
- If you use GoDaddy, Bluehost, or SiteGround: Log into your hosting account, look for the Backups tool in your dashboard, and click Create Backup.
Now that your website is safely backed up, let’s confidently move on to Step 1!
Step 1: Install the Migration Tool
To safely organize your existing student data, we have created a temporary “Migration Tool.” This will pack up your old data so they fit perfectly into our new, faster system.
How to install it:
- Option A (Automatic): Log into your WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins, look for ProQyz, and click Update Now.
- Option B (Manual Download): If you don’t see the update option in your dashboard yet, download the file below and upload it to your plugins page (Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin):
Once updated, refresh your web browser page. You will see a new menu item on the left-hand side of your WordPress menu called Spacetree > ProQyz migration. Click on it!
Step 2: A Quick “System Health Check”
Before we start moving files, the Migration Tool will quickly check your website’s server to make sure it has enough “resources” and time to do the work without getting tired.
You will see a checklist on your screen. Most modern web hosts will already have green checkmarks next to these items:
- Max Execution Time (2 minutes): This gives your server enough time to process the files without giving up.
- Memory Limit (1 GB): This gives your server enough short-term memory to handle the move.
- Upload/Post Sizes (512 MB): This ensures your server can handle packages of this size.
If you see any Red Marks: Don’t panic! You can easily update these settings yourself in under 2 minutes. Here is how to do it on the most common hosting providers:
Method A: If your website uses cPanel (GoDaddy, Bluehost, HostGator, etc.)
- Log into your hosting account and open cPanel.
- Search for and click on MultiPHP INI Editor (usually under the Software section).
- Select your WordPress website’s domain from the dropdown menu.
- Scroll down and update these values:
- Change memory_limit to
1G(or1024M)- Change max_execution_time to
120- Change upload_max_filesize and post_max_size to
512M- Click the blue Apply button at the bottom.
Method B: If your website uses Hostinger
- Log into your Hostinger hPanel and click Manage next to your website.
- On the left menu, go to Advanced > PHP Configuration and click the PHP Options tab.
- Scroll down to find the limits and update them:
- Set memory_limit to
1G- Set max_execution_time to
120- Set upload_max_filesize and post_max_size to
512M- Scroll to the bottom and click Save.
Using a different host or feeling stuck? Don’t worry! You can send a quick message to your hosting provider’s live support chat: “Hi! Please help me temporarily increase my PHP limits to 1GB memory, 120-second execution time, and 512MB upload/post size for a database migration.” They will do this for you in less than a minute!
Step 3: Clean & Move Your Data (The Migration)
Now we are ready to move your data. Follow these simple steps in order:
1. Create the New databases
First, we need to create the brand new database tables where your data will live.
- Simply click the blue button that says Create New Tables Now and click OK. This takes about two seconds!
2. Choose What to Keep (Keep it Lean!)
If you have been teaching with ProQyz for years, you might have a lot of cluttered data from old, deleted student accounts. Cleaning this up makes your website incredibly fast.
- Our Recommendation: Select the option “Only include records of active users.” This tells the system to ignore deleted accounts and only bring over active students. It keeps your website light and fast!
3. Run the Transfer
Click Initialize Migration. The system will count your total student records.
- If you have a large school (thousands of tests): Choose the option “Progress single batch of 100 records”. This moves your data in small, safe groups so your website doesn’t slow down for your students while you do this.
- If you have a small school (under 1,000 tests): Just click Autocomplete Migration to finish the whole process in one click.
When it’s done, you will see a green “Migration Complete!” message. You did it!
Step 4: Install the Main Version 3.0 Update
Now that all your student data is safely packed and moved into its new fast-loading home, we can install the actual ProQyz Version 3.0 features.
How to install it:
- Option A (Automatic): Go back to your WordPress Plugins page. You will see a second update waiting for you. Click Update Now.
- Option B (Manual Download): If the new update isn’t showing up yet, download the final plugin file here and upload it to your site:
Step 5: Turn on AI Speaking Feedback!
Your website is now fully upgraded and running faster than ever! Let’s turn on your new AI Speaking Assistant.
- In your WordPress menu, go to ProQyz > Evaluation Settings.
- Click on the tab at the top labeled AI Evaluation.
- Under the Speaking section, check the box to enable it.
- Set your price if you want to charge students for AI grading, and click Save Changes.
Now, when students submit voice recordings, the AI will automatically evaluate their speaking ability and give them helpful tips to improve.
